Maddie, a teen stuck in the afterlife, investigates her own mysterious disappearance alongside a group of other students who are also stuck in limbo at their high school. Maddie goes on a crime-solving journey as she adjusts to high-school purgatory, but the closer she gets to discovering the truth, the more secrets and lies she uncovers.

Picking up from the shocking season one finale, Maddie works to bring a doubting Simon—her only connection to the living world—back on board to help her track down and collect her missing body. Stuck in the afterlife with the knowledge of what happened to her, Maddie must unite her friends in the spectral and living worlds in order to reclaim her stolen life.

After having clawed her way back to life, Maddie is haunted by visions, and driven by her unfinished business. Meanwhile, her bestie, Simon, is stuck in the purgatorial state that exists in Split River High.
